Russell D. Henderson, Jr.

Mr. Henderson founded ASI. in 2007 after acquiring assets of ABSS, Inc. in 2006. He has over 32 years of information systems experiences including 13 years as the operations executive at ABSS, an information technology firm, 5 years as the CIO of a state department of transportation, and 5 years as the supervisor of information systems at a nuclear power plant. Mr. Henderson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas.

Ryan Nicolas

Ryan Nicolas,
Senior Vice President

As Senior Vice President, Ryan is responsible for contract service delivery, managing customer and partner relationships as well as the them management of strategic growth efforts. He is responsible for oversight of the ASI program management office (PMO). Ryan has Senior Management experience at multiple Fortune 500 companies including Xerox where he served as Director prior to joining ASI. Ryan has over 15 years of experience providing strategic management oversight of complex multi-agency projects encompassing both the public and private sector. He is a Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP).

Stephen Lawson

Stephen Lawson,
Business Development Manager

Steve is responsible for driving the ASI sales and marketing organization toward its strategic growth objectives. Steve directs and oversees the sales team in formalizing the sales strategy, marketing, and capture processes, and overall marketing objectives. The Steve is a US Marine Colonel who remains active in the Marine Corps Reserve. In addition to his 27 years of military service where he served in multiple senior leadership and command positions, Steve has over 20 years of marketing, business development, and project management experience across both the commercial and government sectors.

Nina Esoda

Nina Esoda,
Corporate Controller

Nina is responsible for managing the company’s finance and accounting staff, providing timely, and accurate financial statements, cashflow projections, oversight of F&A operations and processes, as well as the maintenance of the financial reporting system and structure. Nina and her team maintain DCAA compliant accounting systems, and ensure financial commitments to customers, partners, and employees are met.  Nina brings over 34 years of government contracting experience to ASI through various corporate positions held with other government contractors in the Washington DC metropolitan area. In addition to her Controller responsibilities she also maintains the role as our Corporate Facility Security Officer. She enjoys her free time antiquing and restoring old furniture to it’s former glory, spending time with her adult children and family and loves travelling as she continues to check off some of her bucket list items along the way.

Michael Burpee

Michael Burpee,
Health & Human Services Director

Michael is responsible for coordinating the full spectrum of management activities and contract development solutions for the ASI Health & Human Services contract portfolio. Michael is a retired Air Force Major, having served a combined 23 years in the US Army and then the US Air Force. Michael is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and possesses nearly three decades of experience delivering quality of life programs and mental health services within the military community as well as the civilian sector. He brings recognized expertise in military behavioral health, family maltreatment, and substance abuse issues as reflected in multiple senior leadership roles. In addition to his various positions as Family Advocacy Officer, ADAPT Element Chief, and Mental Health Flight Commander, Michael has presented at numerous international and regional conferences representing the USAF Medical Services as well as the behavioral health profession. Michael currently resides in Alaska with his spouse and four children where he is an active in his community as a Red Cross volunteer.

Joel Hicks

Joel Hicks,
Program Manager/Air Traffic Expert

Joel Hicks reports directly to the Vice President and helps manage contracts, hiring, recruiting, business development and planning. He directly supports the FAA writing procedural change proposals, operational concepts and the preparation and conduct of international meetings. Mr. Hicks has 40+ years of experience in the Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration as manager, air traffic controller and in the private sector as an expert consultant and businessperson. His expertise includes terminal, enroute, oceanic and traffic management domains and he has extensive experience developing operational requirements and writing concepts of operation. Mr. Hicks co-founded Jasmah Consulting which provided professional management consulting services to the federal government. He consulted directly to the federal government optimizing airspace, human in the loop testing, operational concept designs, requirements and program management services. He is a graduate of Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelors in Aviation Science.
